Dear Adelanto Elementary School Families,
It is with deep heartfelt sorrow I share the following information:
On Friday, April the 28th two Adelanto Elementary students met an untimely death in a car accident in the city of Victorville. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the family as they work through the many difficulties presented by the loss of this magnitude.
We understand that this is a very sensitive issue where our children are concerned. We wanted parents to have the opportunity to discuss this information with their children first hand, allowing the sharing of individual family insight, perspective, and beliefs.
A Crisis Response Team from Desert Mountain Children Center met early Monday morning to help our staff and students with this loss. DMCC crisis intervention specialists, as well as district school psychologists were here Monday through Wednesday and will continue to be available as long as is needed to talk to students in the classrooms, and in groups.
Know that children find safety and comfort in normal routines; we will make every effort to maintain as normal a school environment as possible. Please know we are working closely with DMCC, school psychologist, nurse, and teachers to monitor and help support students, families, and staff as we navigate these truly sad circumstances.
A family resource, informational gathering, and memorial will be held Saturday, May 13th, beginning at 12:30 pm here at our school for those who would like to attend.
